About the event

Inequality in the workplace is still a widespread practice when it comes to women and women of colour. It affects their ability to access greater opportunities, resources, influence and recognition at the most senior levels of their organisation.

Research has repeatedly shown that gender and ethnic diversity, inclusion and performance go hand in hand if companies wish to better connect with the workplace, business market and wider society at large.

With race under the microscope, addressing privilege is very uncomfortable for male-dominated leaders and those benefiting would rather not talk about it and keep this debate invisible.

Why is this important?

If companies are serious about advancing diversity and fostering inclusion at all levels of their organisations, they will have to redress leadership positions and women’s ability to access influential allies.

Persistent visible/invisible barriers will result in uneasiness with the organisational culture; lack of access to informal networks of power whilst lowering promotional opportunities.

Our acclaimed panellists include:-

  • Cmdr Sue Williams QPM, Head of Profession Safeguarding at Metropolitan Police
  • Patience Ogunbona, Corporate Trainer, Executive Transformational Coach for Female Introverted Leaders, Professionals and Entrepreneurs
  • Lily Jampol, Ph.D (She/Her/Hers), Head of People Science, ReadySet
  • Bukola Adisa, Founder/CEO of Career Masterclass and Senior Governance, Risk and Controls Expert

Key areas for discussion include:

  • Decolonisation of the traditional Board Room Culture
  • How has Open / Unconscious Bias and microaggressions impacted career advancement
  • Does the Intersectionality model truly support women to become more successful?
  • Removing invisible discrepancies around privilege and closing gaps e.g. gender/ethnicity pay gap
  • How are companies demonstrating Intentional Change at the top?
  • Managing discomfort with line managers

You have to admit, there is something for everyone and it’s great when we come together to provide solutions that support how we lead, perform and make a greater change at the top.
