David Heron MBE

Serving Station Welfare Officer

David has wide experience of collaborating across multiple military and non-military organisations to represent the interests of the army; to maximise the operational effectiveness of its soldiers in an increasingly complex environment.


As Station Welfare Officer, David has the responsibility for the support, assistance and welfare advice given to over 1000 soldiers and families.


He is the first point of contact and representative for the wounded injured and sick committees; with additional responsibility for safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.


He pioneered a dynamic programme to support second stage trainee soldiers at 25 Training Regiment Royal Logistic Corp (RLC) with learning difficulties and those with skill fade issues.


An award-winning consultant, David works with clients of all business sizes to define, design, and deliver innovative solutions to better quantify and manage risk within their organisations.


He has a strong track record of advising government departments, public, voluntary and third sector to meet the challenges to turn risks into new opportunities for growth within the marketplace.


David has won a number of accolades for his transformational solutions, standards and strategies for developing and building high performing, diverse and inclusive teams.


A strong advocate for social change, David has used this to promote inclusivity across all levels of the army and within the local community focusing on issues around specific learning difficulties, coaching and mentoring, mental health issues and social problems that impact diverse communities.
