The 2024 Harriet Tubman Commemorative Coin Programme celebrates not only Tubman’s work as a conductor on the Underground Railroad but also her extraordinary service as a nurse during the Civil War. Beyond her role in guiding enslaved individuals to freedom, Tubman provided critical care to Union soldiers and newly freed slaves. She fearlessly served as a nurse, Army scout, and spy, even leading the Combahee River Raid, which liberated over 700 enslaved people.
After the war, Tubman continued her humanitarian efforts, advocating for the care and well-being of the young and elderly. Her selfless dedication to providing physical healing to those in need reflects her deeper commitment to freedom and justice for all.
Let us honour Harriet Tubman’s unrelenting pursuit of freedom and care for others by continuing her legacy. Advocate for equality and fight for access to healthcare, not only in her memory but for the generations to come. As we recognise her remarkable contributions, may we also be inspired to take action within our own communities.
Support her legacy by sharing this message, raising awareness, and standing for the freedom and well-being of all.
