Shrimp and Steak Teriyaki Noodles

Ingredients:

  • 8oz of shrimp, peeled and deveined

  • 8oz of steak (ribeye or sirloin), thinly sliced

  • 8oz of your favourite noodles (ramen, udon or soba)

  • 1 cup broccoli florets

  • 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

  • For the Teriyaki Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce

  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar

  • 2 tablespoons mirin (sweet rice wine)

  • 1 tablespoon sake (or white wine)

  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger

  • 1 teaspoon corn starch

  • 2 tablespoons water


Instructions:

  1. To prepare the Teriyaki Sauce, in a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, mirin, sake, sesame oil, grated ginger, corn starch and water until the sugar has dissolved. Set aside.

  2. Boil the noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

  3. In a large wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over high heat. Add the sliced steak and stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until it's browned. Remove the steak from the pan or wok and set it aside.

  4. In the same wok, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Add the shrimp and minced garlic. Cook for about 1-2 minutes until the shrimp turn pink. Remove the shrimp and garlic and set them aside.

  5. In the same wok, add the peppers and broccoli. Stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until they start to soften.

  6. Return the cooked steak and shrimp to the wok. Add the cooked noodles and pour the prepared teriyaki sauce over everything.

  7. Toss all the ingredients together until the sauce evenly coats the noodles, steak, shrimp and vegetables. Cook for an additional 2 minutes to heat everything through.

  8. Divide the Shrimp and Steak Teriyaki Noodles among plates. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions if desired. Serve hot and savour the delightful fusion of flavours!
