Brothers, This Is Not a Dare, It Is a Statement

Why Black Men Must Lead The Fight Against Prostate Cancer.

Prostate cancer is not a distant issue. It is not someone else’s story. It is your reality and for Black men, the risk is higher, earlier and deadlier.

In the UK, 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime. But for Black men, that risk rises to 1 in 4. Black men are also twice as likely to die from prostate cancer compared to white men and are often diagnosed at a later, more aggressive stage. In the United States, the pattern is even more stark: Black men are around 70 percent more likely to develop prostate cancer and more than twice as likely to die from it.

These are not just statistics. They are fathers, grandfathers, sons, uncles, brothers, partners and friends, often taken too early because awareness, screening and action came too late.

That is why this challenge matters.

We are inviting the BrothaTalk community to Jump for Prostate Cancer UK, not as a stunt, but as a stand. A visible, courageous act to raise funds, raise awareness and force conversations many men have been taught to avoid.

What The Jump Involves

This is a tandem skydive, meaning you are securely harnessed to a fully qualified parachute instructor from start to finish.

On the day, you will complete your training and your jump together. You will leap from at least 10,000 feet, experience free fall for several thousand feet, then deploy the parachute and learn how to steer it safely back to the drop zone. You will receive a certificate afterwards, not just as proof of bravery, but as proof of purpose.

This is about showing what leadership looks like when it involves health, vulnerability and responsibility.

What You Need To Do

To take part, you simply need to raise £395 or more for Prostate Cancer UK.(For airfields in Scotland and Northern Ireland, the minimum sponsorship is £450.)

That fundraising can come from friends, family, colleagues, community groups or small events you organise in the lead-up. You are not expected to do this alone.

Support Every Step Of The Way

You will be supported throughout the journey with practical fundraising tips, ongoing guidance from the Skydiving Team and resources such as a Prostate Cancer UK t-shirt, banners, balloons and collection tins. You will also be guided through setting up a JustGiving page so donations can start immediately.

Why This Matters For Brothatalk

Black men are less likely to talk about prostate health. Less likely to get checked early. Less likely to be believed when symptoms appear. They are more likely to carry the burden silently.

This jump is about changing that narrative.

If you are ready to turn courage into action, book your skydive here.

If you cannot jump, support someone who can.

If this post made you pause, share it with a brother who needs to see it because real strength is not pretending we are invincible. It is showing up, for ourselves and for each other.
