Let’s Talk About Work Culture and Menopause Without Shame, Without Silence

Menopause isn’t a women’s issue. It’s a workplace wellbeing issue. And silence is no longer compassionate.

Far too many women move through perimenopause and menopause feeling invisible at work, navigating brain fog, exhaustion, hot flushes, anxiety, memory lapses and even depression all while trying to “just get on with it.”

Not because they want to suffer in silence. But because there are no systems. No clear policies. No safe conversations. And no signal that the workplace knows how or even wants to respond.

But what if that changed?

Imagine a culture where menopause wasn’t whispered about but understood.

  • Where every department from HR to line managers, senior leaders to interns had tools to lean on.

  • Where menopause champions existed intentionally not as tokens, but as trained, trusted allies.

  • Where men, young professionals and leaders alike formed part of a working group to co-create inclusive, safe frameworks using trusted methodologies and accessible toolkits.

  • Where women didn’t feel exposed or embarrassed for simply being human.

That shift doesn’t start with posters or webinars alone. It starts with empathy. With willingness. With conversation. And it must begin across all layers of an organisation not just in women's networks or side initiatives.

Because the question isn’t “Are we ready for this conversation?”The question is “Can we afford not to be?”

So to every woman reading this.

  • What do you need in your workplace to feel safe, seen, and supported during menopause?

  • What will help you start the conversation with grace and confidence?

And if you’ve already walked part of this journey, share your experience, your insight, your wisdom. Your voice could be the light that guides another woman out of silence and into strength.
