Caring for Yourself During Menopause

The music, the colours, the community, Carnival is unforgettable. But for women navigating menopause, the heat, crowds and long hours can take a toll on the body. Once the celebration winds down, here are some simple ways to restore balance and care for yourself:
Rehydrate Deeply
Alcohol, caffeine and long hours in the sun can leave you depleted. Drink plenty of water or herbal teas to restore hydration and ease hot flashes.
Soothe and Cool
Take a lukewarm shower (not ice-cold) to gently lower your body temperature and relax tense muscles. Applying a cool cloth to your neck or feet can also bring relief.
Nourish with Light Foods
After indulging in street food, reset your body with fresh fruits, leafy greens or gut-friendly meals. Balanced nutrition supports hormonal shifts and energy levels.
Rest and Reset
Fatigue and disrupted sleep are common in menopause. Prioritise rest whether it’s a nap, early bedtime or even 10 minutes of mindful breathing.
Gentle Movement
If you’ve been on your feet all day, stretch your legs or do light yoga before bed. It eases stiffness and helps you sleep better.
