Celebrating Breast Cancer Awareness Month

ree

This month we pause, reflect and celebrate life while raising awareness for breast cancer, a condition that touches millions of women across the globe. Louise Hay often reminded us that our bodies are always speaking to us and that loving attention is the greatest gift we can give ourselves.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is not only about ribbons, campaigns, or statistics, it is a sacred reminder to listen deeply, to honour our health and to choose life by making check-ups a priority.

Breast cancer is now the most common cancer in the world. In the UK alone, around 55,000 women are diagnosed each year and in the U.S. over 280,000 cases are reported annually. Yet the truth is, when found early, survival rates increase dramatically. Screening and self-examination are not acts of fear, but acts of self-love. They whisper to the body “I am worth saving. I am worthy of care.”

For women in Black and disadvantaged communities, the picture is even more urgent. Research shows Black women are more likely to be diagnosed with aggressive forms of breast cancer and at younger ages, often leading to worse outcomes. South Asian and Black communities also face cultural stigma, late presentation and barriers in access to healthcare services.

AI-driven health data is beginning to uncover these disparities, revealing that predictive models trained on mostly white populations often miss early warning signs in women of colour. Technology can be a tool for healing, but only if it reflects us all.

The message this October is clear. Do not leave your health to fate. Make the appointment. Do the check. Encourage your sister, mother, aunt, daughter and friend to do the same. Early detection saves lives and every life is precious.

When we heal ourselves, we also heal our families, our communities and our future.

Today, take a deep breath and affirm “I love and approve of myself. My body is a safe and beautiful home. I choose to care for it with kindness, courage and consistency.”

Join us in this month of awareness, healing and action. Like, comment and share this message so that together we can spread hope, save lives and remind every woman, especially in our BAME communities, that her life matters and her health is worth protecting.
