3 Steps to Better Self-care

ree

Self-care is a general term that describes everything you do deliberately for your mental, physical and emotional well-being. Self-care encourages you to maintain a healthy relationship with yourself so that you can transfer the good feelings to others.

However, in our 'rush' culture and overwhelming work, home, family and business responsibilities it’s easy to become stressed and worn out. Here are three simple steps to consider for taking some time to focus on what is essential for you and your personal self care strategy going forward.

1. Identify Your Needs and Priorities:

It is important to take some time to reflect on your life and identify areas where you may need more support or care and what habits are getting in the way of your self care routine. This could include physical health, emotional well-being, relationships, work-life balance, or other areas of your life.

2. Create Healthy Habits

Building healthy habits can help you take better care of yourself in the long term. This could include things like eating a balanced diet, getting regular exercise, practicing good sleep hygiene, and taking breaks throughout the day to rest and recharge.

It is important to remember that when you put others before yourself you will burnout and feel overwhelmed. Healthy habits creates a healthy mind, body and soul, so be kind to yourself. Life is more than just going through the motions.

3. Make time for self-care activities:

There are good lessons to be discovered once you practice self care.  Think of all the activities that help you feel relaxed, rejuvenated, and happy. Putting yourself first is a priority. Take time out to read a book, taking a bath, walking, meditation or engaging in creative pursuits that bring you joy.

Whatever activities you choose, make sure to schedule them into your day or week so that you're making time for yourself on a regular basis. If you don't make this a priority you will soon find your performance levels and concentration falling short.

Action: Where do you feel that you need to focus on in order to bring more balance into your life?
